Zimbabwe Pull Off Thrilling Victory Over Bangladesh to End 4-Year Test Drought

Zimbabwe Clinch Historic Win in Sylhet

Zimbabwe registered their first Test victory since March 2021, defeating Bangladesh by three wickets in a tense final day in Sylhet. Chasing a modest target of 174, Zimbabwe’s strong start turned nervy before Wesley Madhevere sealed the match with a boundary.

Blessing Muzarabani Stars with Six-Wicket Haul

The hero of the match was Blessing Muzarabani, who produced a sensational spell of fast bowling on the final morning. He dismissed Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto for 60 with just the second ball of the day and went on to claim 6-72.

Bangladesh collapsed from 194-4 to 255 all out, losing their last six wickets for just 61 runs. Muzarabani was rightfully named Player of the Match for his match-defining performance.

Mehidy Hasan’s Heroics Not Enough

Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz put up a strong fight with the ball. He took 5-50 in the second innings, finishing with match figures of 10-102, threatening to pull off a stunning comeback.

He removed both Brian Bennett (54) and Ben Curran (44), who had earlier laid a solid foundation for Zimbabwe’s chase. However, despite the middle-order collapse, Zimbabwe scraped through to victory at 161-7, with Madhevere hitting the winning four.
